
Peter Pan is set to fly into West Cumbria next month, thanks to Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society.
Peter Pan The Broadway Musical will be at the Carnegie Theatre Workington from Wednesday November 26 to Saturday November 29.
The society is promising to take audiences on a trip bursting with magic, spectacular flying effects and unforgettable songs.
Meet the cast
Charlie Dixon – John Darling
- Age: 12
- School: Netherhall School, Maryport
- How long have you been a member of Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society? Junior member for 4 years
- What parts have you played? Bruce Bogtrotter in Matlida, Charlie Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Micheal Hobbs in Elf, Professor Ray (& Beach boy) in Nemo, Ancestor in Moana Likes about Amateurs
- What do you like most about the society? I have made loads of new friends, it feels like a family, I have grown in confidence and love being a part of MAODS because they put on amazing shows.
- What is your favourite part of Peter Pan? My favourite part of the show is when I fly, I’m so excited.
Charlie will be on stage alongside his twin sister and mum and dad.
Harry Barnes – Michael Darling
- Age: 9
- School: St Bridget’s School
- How long have you been a member of Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society? Junior member for nine months
- What parts have you played? Tad (one of the reef kids) in Finding Nemo
- What do you like most about the society? I love being on stage and love the people there too
- What is your favourite part of Peter Pan? I can’t wait to fly!
Beth Smith – Wendy Darling
- How long have you been a member of Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society? Too long to remember! 13 years!
- What parts have you played? Gypsy – Baby Louise, Made In Dagenham – Sharon, Wizard Of Oz – Scarecrow (NODA winner in the District), Matilda – Miss Honey, Making Your Mind Up – Miss Sweden (NODA winner in the District) and much more.
- What is your favourite part of Peter Pan? The musical number I Won’t Grow Up – you will be singing it on your way home – although I am excited to fly!
Beth is no stranger to MAODS she’s returning to the stage with the society after finishing a performing arts course at The London School Of Musical Theatre. It’s a family affair for Beth as she will be on stage in this production with her grandma and younger sister.
Katie Weir – Peter Pan
- How long have you been a member of Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society? Far too long to remember
- What parts have you played? Deb in Elf The musical and various other parts with other societies
- What is your favourite part of Peter Pan? I’m most looking forward to being back on stage with the adults and the juniors of which I am a junior leader and also having the lead role! I am really enjoying the rehearsals with all the cast and crew and everyone is working really hard to yet again start the festive season off in style with a MAODS show. I’m also looking forward to teaching the Darlings how to fly!
