Former Whitehaven and Barrow forward Carl Forster has joined the coaching staff at Bradford Bulls.
There has been speculation as to where Forster was heading when he stood down as coach to League One champions North Wales Crusaders two weeks ago.
But it has now been confirmed that the new Super League club will be adding Forster to their payroll.
He will be one of the club’s two full-time assistants, working alongside Lee Greenwood under new head coach Kurt Haggerty.
Forster is 33-years-old now and was a pro in the game for 13 years after being brought through the academy at St Helens before later joining Salford.
He cut his coaching teeth at Whitehaven in 2017 while still playing, winning 59 out of 71 matches with the Recreation Ground club.
Then followed a brief spell as player-coach at Rochdale Hornets before moving back to Cumbria as a player with Barrow.
North Wales Crusaders then took him on as player coach before retiring from on-field leadership to concentrate on the coaching.
It proved a successful transitioon as he went on to lead the Crusaders to the League One title in the season just recently completed.
After his new role at Bradford had been announced Forster said: “It’s a dream job to be assisting in Super League.
“It’s something I aspired to achieve when I have been coaching semi-professional after work.
“I know the brand of rugby Kurt likes to play as we both came through at St Helens as juniors and the brand of rugby we played at Crusaders was something that attracted him to me.
“It is now about fulfilling the potential of the players and bringing a really attractive brand of rugby.”
