
The Cumbria Region has announced its special award winners for the 2025 season.
The awards committee of the Cumbria Region met on Sunday to decide the recipients.
They have thanked all the members who entered pigeons into the awards process.
Category A is for old bird inland performances and the winners were McLuckie brothers of Workington, who receive the Union Jack Trophy.
Runner-up was the Workington loft of Evans and Abraham and they will receive an RPRA Medallion and Framed Diploma.
Category B was for the Old Bird Channel, and winning the Tom Pooley Cup was the loft of CA Ostle and J McNichol of Flimby HS.
They will receive an RPRA Medallion and Framed Diploma.
Runners-up in this category was David Harrison and son of Egremont, winning an RPRA Medallion and framed Diploma.
Category C was a Combined award and unfortunately there were no entries this year.
Category D was for Young Birds, any distance, and the winners receiving the Long and Small trophy were Mr & Mrs J Walters & son of Workington Social, who will also receive an RPRA Medallion and framed Diploma.
The runner-up was P Dodd of Ulverston who will receive an RPRA Medallion and Framed Diploma.
The Tattersall NFC Cup went to Varty, son and grandson of Flimby.
The Tattersall and Blacklock Trophy for Services to the sport went to Adam Young of Millom.
Cumbria Region Young Fancier of the Year was named as Karl Greer, of the Beehive FC, Carlisle.
The following have been selected to represent the Cumbria Region in the RPRA National awards – Ostle and McNichol in the Over 450 miles category and Karl Greer in the Guy Barrett National Young Fancier of the Year Trophy.
