Thieves used a lorry to steal diesel from a north Cumbrian garage.

The high value theft happened at Crosby Moor Garage on the A689 between Carlisle and Carlisle Airport between 11.45pm on October 24 and 3.30am on October 25.

The thieves drove to the garage in a 7.5 tonne curtain sider lorry filled with 1,000 litre IBC containers.

They parked it in the field next to the garage and used tubing to siphon the diesel from the main storage tank.

The suspects were on site for several hours before leaving.

The fuel has since been recovered.

Police are appealing for any witnesses and or anyone with any relevant dashcam footage.

Officers are keen to speak with anyone travelling on the A689 at the relevant times above in the area of Crosby Moor Garage.

Report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 53 of 25 October 2025 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
