Kendal Town and Carlisle City both have top five opposition tomorrow in the Northern League.
The Mintcakes, riding high in fourth place entertain fifth placed Boro Rangers while the Sky Blues travel to leaders Guisborough.
Kendal were unbeaten throughout October picking up 11 points during the month and scoring 13 goals.
Matt Flynn is impressing a lot of people with his first managerial appointment and has gathered a good staff and playing squad around him.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Things are going really well and I can’t speak highly enough of the work that Matt and his staff are doing.
“This is a big game for us and I’m looking for a good crowd for fourth versus fifth.
“We took 100 on our last away fixture and have been going above the 400 barrier at home on a regular basis.”
Kendal are three points better off than Boro going into the game and trail Shildon and Whitley Bay by a point – all from 15 games.
Guisborough have a five point lead on their two nearest challengers but from a game more and Carlisle City will be up for the challenge when they visit the King George V ground.
Manager Dan Kirkup was particularly pleased with last Saturday’s excellent
4-1 home win over Horden who are sixth in the table.
That was followed by a comfortable 7-0 win at Gillford Park against Cockermouth in the Fred Conway County Cup.
Kirkup was able to give minutes to players who hadn’t been getting much game time in the Northern League.
He was looking for them to give him selection problems for the trip to Gainsborough.
Penrith have a blank week-end after putting together a tidy unbeaten run which has pushed them to ninth, only five points off a play-off place.
In the Wearside League Windscale are in need of a morale-boosting win after a dip in form.
However they deserved something on Tuesday night at Richmond Town when they lost 2-1 – the home winner being from a blatant hand ball.
The Atoms take a break from League football tomorrow when they entertain Willington in the second round of the Shipowners Charity Cup.
Owen Woodburn who has joined the Atoms from Whitehaven is set to make his debut.
There is a big game at Rakemoor Lane tomorrow where Holker Old Boys have to replay their FA Vase tie with Wythenshawe.
They had drawn at Wythenshawe two weeks ago and then won a penalty shoot-out only to be told later that the referee had made a mistake in how he had officiated the spot kick decider.
So the south Cumbrians will try again to make progress with the prospect of a trip to Bradford to play Albion Sport in the second round.
Holker were involved in mid-week Cup action, losing 1-0 at Bacup Borough in the Edward Case Cup.
In the West Lancashire League there’s a huge game in prospect at the County Ground.
It’s a clash of the bottom two as Whitehaven – five points from 12 games – entertain Milnthorpe Corinthians – one point from 13 games.
Whitehaven have had it tough, losing manager Jon-Karl Frampton and seven leading players.
First game for them after that was against unbeaten leaders Eagley where a very young side played with a lot of spirit before going down 7-1.
Then in mid-week they had a Fred Conway County Cup game at Borough Park where they went under 8-1 to Workington Reds.
Everyone is hoping they can pull things round, keep the show on the road and start to climb the League.
Neighbours Cleator Moor Celtic are on a nine match unbeaten run and they entertain last season’s champions empest United to the Travis Perkins Ground.
After a poor start to the season Twempest have climbed rapidly an now sit third in the table, although some eight points behind Eagley.
Millom are on the road tomorrow to CMB after being unlucky 2-1 losers to high-flying Haslingden St. Mary’s last week.
It’s an interesting stat that Millom have actually earned more points away from home (12 in five games) than they have at home (8 in eight games).
