
Emergency services were called out after a man was spotted in a tree above a Cumbrian river.
Cumbria police, Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service and Maryport Rescue were called to the Station Road/Mealpot Road area of Maryport on Wednesday at around 7.50pm.
Maryport Rescue said: “The incident involved a male who had placed himself in a potentially dangerous position in a tree above the River Ellen.
“The team deployed three swiftwater rescue technicians with a rescue sled, standing by to provide waterborne support if required.
“Following successful negotiations by Cumbria police, the incident was safely resolved, and the male was placed into the care of the North West Ambulance Service.”
