Derwent Valley Federation AGM to be held

Motions for the AGM on December 10 have been received by the Derwent Valley Federation.

Concerns over the first racepoint Flookburgh have prompted two clubs to propose leaving it off the programme.

Flimby HS have said there should be no Flookburgh to be flown for either old or young birds.

Harrington Central want young bird racing to start at Garstang.

Flimby have proposed that old bird racing should start on April 11 with young bird racing beginning on July 11.

The Flimby club has also suggested a race programme of:

  • Old birds: Garstang, Charnock Richard, Appleton 1 and 2, Cannock 1 and 2, Cheltenham 1, Marlborough, Weymouth 1, Cheltenham 2 Weymouth 2.
  • Young birds: Garstang, Charnock Richard, Appleton 1 and 2, Nantwich or Sandbach or race point around 120 miles, Cannock 1 and 2, Wollaston, Cheltenham.

Harrington Central have proposed that weather permitting the transporter should be made available for young bird training.

They are asking that the Harrington Central club should be allowed to ring birds at their own HQ for all inland races.

The Harrington members feel that there should be a gap between the end of old bird racing and the start of the young bird programme.

Workington Victoria have proposed that the Federation award ten Diplomas to the first 10 places in a Federation open race.

They think the transporter crates should be loaded bottom to top at each marking station.

Victoria want Stafford included in the race programme for old an young birds and if unavailable then a suitable replacement be found.

Victoria also propose that any channel races are, as far as possible, held fortnightly.

Finally they propose that Combine fee are raised to £10 per loft.
