Cockermouth Under-16s travelled to St Benedict’s to play their second game of the county cup mini league.
It’s always a tough place to visit but the young Wasps are on a great run of form and won convincingly 50-0.
It was particularly rewarding as they had never beaten Benny’s.
The first ten minutes were tight with neither team really creating any chances.
There were signs that Cockermouth were starting to dominate the forwards battle and control the game through strength and territory gain.
The breakthrough came when they were able to move the ball really nicely to speedy winger Zac Curnow to score out wide. Robson Campbell converted. Cockermouth then started to grow in confidence and settle into the game.
When they moved the ball quickly again at pace Curnow went over again, skilfully beating the last defender.
Although the Wasps went in at half time 12-0 up their coaches were a little frustrated by the lack of composure needed to capitalise on good field position.
The half-time talk must have worked as the second half was a points feast.

Some strong field position resulted in Campbell slotting home two penalty kicks to extend their lead and allow the team to relax and start playing with a little flare.
They then scored two excellent tries in 10 minutes from Charlie Tucker and Jamie Graham.
However, the try of the game came when full-back Harry Corrin picked up the ball up from a kick through.
He was a metre from his own try line, but then proceeded to slalom his way through a series of defenders and scored under the sticks, after some truly amazing footwork, pace and skill.
In the end it really was a full squad performance with too many individual performances to mention.
However the forwards were immense. Special mention to Ashton Graham who never stopped working and took many balls in against a tough team.
Man of the Match was awarded by the Bennies coach to play maker Robson Campbell for his communication and control throughout the game, orchestrating some great attacks.
There was also a commendable debut to Max Petre making his Wasps debut while there was credit to the home side.
The scoreline didn’t represent how tough the game was and their determination to keep going and not to give up.
Try scorers were Zac Curnow (2), Harry Corrin (2), Jamie Graham, Charlie Tucker and Keane Devoy. Robson Campbell converted five and landed two penalties.
