A harvest ball held by the Westmorland County Agricultural Society has raised £74,000 for charity.
The ball, at the exhibition hall at North West Auctions J36, Kendal, was raising funds for Cancer Research UK and the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund, which supports the haematology and oncology ward at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
The Westmorland County Agricultural Society’s social committee chose to raise funds for cancer charities due to the profound impact the disease has had across the local agricultural community in recent times.
The event welcomed 500 guests and a large online auction was also held.
The hall was transformed into a ballroom by PSR and DTL Marquees, complete with draping, chandeliers, and atmospheric lighting. Entertainment was provided by band Maddison.

Anne Carter, a member of the society’s social committee, said: “We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown by everyone involved.
“From sponsors and auction donors to guests and volunteers, the response has been remarkable.
“The agricultural community has once again shown its incredible strength and unity.”
