Penrith will be looking to continue their good goal-scoring habits when they resume their Northern League programme tomorrow.

Jim Nichols’ men have a home game in Division One against West Allotment Celtic, one of the league’s strugglers.

Celtic are next to bottom, conceding an average of two goals a game while Penrith are only bettered by Whitley Bay in number of goals scored.

Refreshed from a week off, Nichols will see this as an opportunity to make progress towards the play-off places.

Of course guarding against any complacency will be part of his message as the Bonny Blues will start the day eight points adrift of the all-important fifth place.

He has to go into action without goalkeeper Lewis Boyd, after a family bereavement, and centre half Kevin McKenna (suspended) but should still have enough to see-off the Celtic challenge.

Kendal Town were disappointed to lose their big game with Boro Rangers last week.

The top five clash ended 2-0 to the visitors and Kendal boss Matt Flynn is desperate to make amends at Thornaby tomorrow.

Thornaby are 15th, some 14 points behind the Mintcakes and they’ve played a game more.

Kendal should have had some mid-week action but their home tie with Chester le Street in the Brooks Mileson League Cup was postponed because of the weather.

In the West Lancashire League, there’s a Cumbrian derby with Whitehaven taking on Millom at the County Ground.

Whitehaven are trying to rebuild after key departures while Millom are slowly returning to form after a blip had followed  a fine start to the season.

Cleator Moor Celtic had been due to play their Fred Conway County Cup tie with Wetheriggs United but the Westmorland League side has conceded, being unable to raise a team.

Milnthorpe Corinthians, after collecting their first win of the season at Whitehaven last week will bid to follow up at home to Rossendale.

In the Wearside League, Windscale switch to local affairs when they visit neighbours Whitehaven Miners Social in the Fred Conway County Cup.
