Promotion chasing Harrington Legion B.

Red House A joined the race for promotion in the JJ’s Workington Pool B league after beating the undefeated Grapes.

The Grapes had looked good to win their sixth game as Denise Caine and Ian Carter put them 6-3 ahead.

However, with four singles to go, it was the Red House who changed the momentum as Aaron Holmes won his second frame of the evening to set up Gaz Hunter who delivered the equalising frame.

At 6-6 it was Red House’s Sam Plummer who gave his team the 7-6 victory and hand the Grapes their first defeat which leaves both teams joint top of the B league.

Joining them in a tight battle at the top of the B league are Harrington Legion B after they won their third game in a row.

Facing Red House B at home they controlled the game which Jordan Crickett rounded off for a 10-3 win.

Miners are keeping in touch with the leaders as they comfortably defeated Seaton Royal Oak 10-3.

Station Road B eased relegation worries as they defeated the Pack Horse Pooligans 8-5 with Will Young winning his second and match-winning frame of the evening.

Michael Dodd topped off a strong singles display for Cons Club A as they ran out 9-4 winners against the Bees Knees.

The A league has the unprecedented scenario where eight of the 10 teams are within one win of the top of the league and a third of the season completed.

Current league title holders Harrington Legion lead the table on frame difference thanks to a comprehensive 11-2 win over Station Road C.

Station Rd C, along with Moss Bay A find themselves cut adrift at the bottom of the A League as Chris Hunter topped off a strong singles showing by Station Road A who beat Moss Bay, also by 11-2.

Pack Horse A are the current form team having made it three wins in a row. Facing the league leaders, Carl Ennis kicked off the night with a win and helped build a 4-0 lead.

JJ’s C fought back to 5-4 before the Seaton side asserted their dominance as Simon Frazer, then Karl Newton, capped off an 8-5 win.

JJ’s A edged a close fought match 7-6 against Cons Club B and their club compatriots JJ’s B also enjoyed a winning night as they dispatched the Waverly 8-5.

Moss Bay B suffered their first defeat of the season in the C league. Andrew Forrester kicked off the night with a win for the Grapes A and they raced to a 5-1 lead.

Despite a mini fight-back Moss Bay couldn’t stop Michael Scott securing the 7-6 victory for the Grapes A.

JJ’s D moved up to seventh after a 7-6 win over Union Jack Club A as Jack Bell secured the winning frame.

Union Jack B got back to winning ways as they were in an unforgiving mood when they ran out 10-3 winners over the Roundabout.

Finally JJ’s E kept up their promotion hopes thanks to a 9-4 victory over the Railway Club.
