Carlisle United beat a spirited Greystoke side 4-0 at Penrith’s Frenchfield to complete the sides through to the quarter final of the Fred Conway County Cup.
Two goals in each half finally saw off a determined challenge from the Westmorland County League side.
Carlisle fielded a young team against a side lying 10th of 13 in their league’s First Division.
Lewis Lambert and Will Rafferty scored in quick succession in the first half to give United the two-goal advantage at half-time.
Greystoke proved resilient and it wasn’t until the last 15 minutes that they scored two further goals from Josh Wade and Reuben Towers.
United will join holders Carlisle City, Workington, Penrith, Windscale, Cleator Moor Celtic, Unisun Athletic and Kirkoswald in Tuesday night’s draw for the quarter finals.
