The rise in temperatures appears to have come in time for much of the Cumbrian sporting scene.
Earlier this morning the only two casualties were the West Lancashire League game involving Millom and Whitehaven.
Millom were due to entertain Astley and Buckshaw United while Whitehaven were prevented from travelling to Rossendale.
There had been concerns yesterday about Kendal’s home game with Marske United in the Northern League with the Parkside Road pitch said to be solid.
But there were no problems today and the visitors were given the go ahead to travel.
Both Penrith and Carlisle City were given no concerns about their trips to Birtley and Northallerton respectively and the only Division One casualty was the game between Easington Colliery and Crook Town.
In rugby union there was a casualty but had nothing to do with the weather. In Counties 1 Cumbria Penrith 2nds were unable to raise a team for their trip to Keswick 2nds.
