Plans for 91 new homes in Carlisle have been revealed.

Social landlord Castles & Coasts is working with developer United Living on the proposals for land to the east of Lansdowne Close and Lansdowne Court.

The 7.5 hectare site is accessed off Raisbeck Close.

An application for the scheme has been lodged with Cumberland Council.

The estate would include 10 two-bedroom bungalows, 32 two-bedroom houses, 43 three-bedroom houses and six four-bedroom homes.

The proposed development is 100% affordable housing, with the properties comprising affordable/social rent, and affordable homes ownership options; shared ownership and Rent to Buy.

A new pedestrian and cycle route would be created to provide a link from the site into Lansdowne Crescent to the south.

The applicants submitted plans for 101 homes on the site in 2022 but was refused by the council in 2024 because of the impact on the surrounding trees and the increase in nutrients into the River Eden special area of conservation catchment.

It said the latest application addressed the concerns and deliver much-needed affordable housing.

The application is currently being considered by the council.
