Seaton Rangers celebrate their Cumberland Cup win over Maryport earlier this year

Seaton Rangers will kick off this season’s Challenge Cup competition for Cumbria – but with a tough first round draw.

The village side, who finished the season with a trophy double in the Cumberland Cup and CARL Top Four finals, must travel to Thatto Heath Crusaders.

The St; Helens side are one of the better teams in the National Conference Premier Division finishing last season fifth of 12.

Cumbria’s three semi-professional teams come into the competition at the second round stage and all must travel.

However Whitehaven have been handed the toughest assignment as they face a trip to fellow Championship side Sheffield.

Barrow and Workington have been drawn against amateur opposition with the Raiders going to Wigan St Jude’s or Leigh Miners Rangers while Town will be on the road to Blackbrook or GB Police.
