Poole Pirates have signed Australian Fraser Bowes for the 2026 season after his debut season in the UK with Workington Comets.
Soon to turn 24, Fraser made his British racing debut for Workington last season and is looking to build on the 5.63 he completed the 2025 campaign on.
Poole fans saw a glimpse of his talent when he romped to a six ride 13 points at Wimborne Road in July a performance that included a retirement in his third ride.
Speaking from Australia, Fraser expressed his delight in becoming a Pirate after earlier saying a few thank yous to individuals at Workington, including co-promoter Steve Lawson.
He said: “I would like to thank Matt and Danny Ford, Middlo (Neil Middleditch) and Havvy (Gary Havelock) for making this happen. I really enjoyed my visits to Wimborne Road and with it being a technical track I am really looking forward to riding there every week next season.”
Promoter Dan Ford believes the capture of Bowes will be beneficial for the club and rider alike.
He said: “Fraser is another exciting Aussie to join the Pirates, and he immediately showed he liked the look of Wimborne Road when he visited last season.
“With a year of Championship racing behind him, and experience of almost every track now under his belt, we believe that once he gets properly dialled into our place we can really unlock his potential.”
His first season at Workington had promised much but rather finished under a cloud and he went home a little earlier than planned.
