Muckle LLP is accelerating its expansion in Cumbria with the recent promotion of Rachael Stephenson to the new role of office lead partner – an exciting milestone in the firm’s strategic growth and ongoing commitment to the region.

As part of its ambitious five-year plan, Muckle aims for its Cumbria and Teesside offices to contribute 15% of the firm’s overall revenue by 2031 and Rachael’s appointment is a key step in achieving this target.

Rachael, a respected private client partner at the firm, brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.

Having spent her entire life in Cumbria, Rachael has a deep understanding of the region’s opportunities and challenges, and is perfectly positioned to drive Muckle’s regional presence forward.

Rachael said “I’m thrilled to lead Muckle’s growth in Cumbria. This region is key to our future growth, and I’m proud to lead a team that is not only committed to delivering exceptional legal services but also deeply embedded in the local community.”

Supporting the local communities is very important to Rachael.

She is a trustee of several Cumbrian charities, including the Cumbria Community Foundation and Eden Valley Hospice & Jigsaw, and has been recognised in the Pro Bono Recognition List of England and Wales for her dedication to pro bono work.

Since joining Muckle’s private client team in 2022, Rachael has played a key role in advising on a range of charitable and private trust matters, and will continue to do this alongside her new role as Cumbria office lead.

Her work and personable approach have been highly praised by the Legal 500 UK and Chambers and Partners, with clients calling her a breath of fresh air.

This strategic appointment highlights Muckle’s ongoing commitment to Cumbria, reinforcing its dedication to building a strong and sustainable future for the region. Earlier this month, Muckle was recognised as the People and Work Business of the Year for Cumbria in the 2025 Chamber Business Awards.

Rachael added: “We’ve seen significant growth in the team, which is a direct result of our personable yet expert approach.

“As we continue to invest in Cumbria, we’re focused on building lasting relationships and attracting top-tier talent to help us deliver outstanding legal services.

“Our success in the region is built on these connections and staying true to the values that drive everything we do. We already serve many longstanding, high-profile clients across Cumbria and across the UK, and we’re excited to build on this solid foundation as we continue to grow.”
