Two men arrested near the Kendal Calling site during this year’s music festival have denied being involved in a plot to peddle cocaine and cannabis.
Clarie-gee Smith, 24, and 29-year-old Emmanuel Bello each faced five charges when they appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this afternoon.
Two of these allege that they conspired with others to supply cocaine and cannabis between July 30 and August 4.
Two additional charges allege possession of the drugs with intent to supply. A fifth charge alleges the possession of criminal property, namely cash.
During a hearing in front of Judge Michael Fanning, the two men entered not guilty pleas to the charges they jointly face.
A 27-year-old woman from the Greater Manchester area denied the same five charges during a previous court hearing.
A fourth defendant, a man from Birmingham, has yet to enter pleas to the same five charges and is due to appear at the court next month.
A jury trial has been listed in the case. This is due to start on April 13 next year.
In the meantime Smith, of Rosneath Close, Wolverhampton, has been granted conditional bail; and Bello, of City View, Erdington, Birmingham, remains remanded in custody.
The four defendants were arrested after police stopped a vehicle close to the Kendal Calling site, at Lowther Deer Park, near Penrith, on Sunday August 3.
