A project to create a labyrinth in a Carlisle park are set to go ahead this month.
Friends of Chances Park has secured full funding for the circular path from several organisations, including Lottery – Awards for All, Cumbria Waste Management Environmental Trust, Riverside Foundation, Go Cardless, Partnership West, Hadfield Trust, Cumbria Community Foundation, and Cumberland Council.
Cumberland Council has partnered with Friends of Chances Park to bring this initiative to life and will manage its delivery through an appointed contractor.
The Chances Park labyrinth will be a classical seven-circuit design, created using stone paths separated by grass pathways.
The overall build is due to be completed over winter, but the grass pathways will naturally take longer to establish and will come fully into their own by spring.
Iris Rogan, vice-chair of Friends of Chances Park, said: “We are thrilled to see this long-held vision becoming a reality.
“Securing full funding is a tremendous achievement, and we are deeply grateful to every organisation that has invested in creating a new space for wellbeing, reflection, and community connection in Chances Park.”
