
A minor earthquake has been registered in the Carnforth area.
Lancaster Area Police said at around 11.35pm yesterday, Wednesday December 3, officers received reports of a large explosion.
The British Geological Survey has recorded a minor earthquake, measuring 3.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale at Silverdale, near the Lancashire and Cumbria border.
Lancaster Area Police sad there had been no reports of anyone injured or any damage caused but it deployed officers to the area, with colleagues from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service.

If anyone knows of any property that has been damaged or potentially damaged, they are asked to call 101 quoting log 1613 of 3rd December.
A Cumbria Crack reader, who lives near Carnforth, said he and his family felt the quake quite strongly.
“I was downstairs in the kitchen and the house began shaking.
“It was a rumbling, rattling sound, quite noisy. Some of the household were upstairs where it was even louder.
“It was clear it was an earthquake. I have lived in South Cumbria and near the Lancashire/Cumbria border for years and have never experienced anything like it.
“One of the family felt her bed shaking, another said she was worried a bookcase was going to fall over.”
