A Cumbrian candle and fragrance firm has raised £2,000 for a South Cumbrian hospice.

Wax Lyrical, based in Ulverston, named the town’s St Mary’s Hospice and Mind in Furness as its charities of the year.

Staff took part in creative fundraising activities, including the sale of £5 boxes of surplus product – with 100% of proceeds donated directly to their chosen charities – alongside an office cake sale and several other staff-led initiatives.

Marcus Reid, operations director at Wax Lyrical, said: “We’ve loved raising money for St Mary’s Hospice this year through various fundraising initiatives.

“Wax Lyrical has been a supporter of the charity for many years; the work they do is so critical in the area and we’re really pleased to be able to support in some way.

“It’s more important than ever that local businesses support fantastic charities like St Mary’s Hospice and we’re very proud to be able to play a part in their fundraising.”

Annabelle Holloway, corporate partnership manager at St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We are incredibly thankful to everyone at Wax Lyrical for their generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the year.

“Their fundraising will make a real and meaningful difference to the patients and families we support. Partnerships like this are vital in helping us continue our work, and we’re so grateful to have Wax Lyrical as part of our hospice community.”
