Former Carlisle United forward Cedwyn Scott has been nominated for the November Player of the Month in National North.
Scott, 26, had two spells at Carlisle in 2021 and at the back end of last season with a total of 18 appearances and one league goal.
He joined South Shields in August and it’s his form in November which has earned him the nomination.
He scored five goals in six games and added an assist for good measure too as South Shields registered a solid month that included a fine away win at AFC Fylde and big wins against Oxford City and Worksop Town.
He is up against Ricardo Rees (Merthyr Town) who hit 13 goals in eight games – including two hat-tricks – to carry his side to third in the table; Will McGowan (Darlington) after an influential month in the midfield in which he chipped in with four big goals to move his side from mid-table to the top four and (Luca Thomas (AFC Fylde) who scored four goals – including winners at Alfreton Town and Marine – to take his side top of the League.
In the National North manager of the month, Darlington’s Steve Watson is one of the four nominations.
It was Watson who persuaded Terry Mitchell to leave Danny Grainger’s staff at Workington to take on the assistant manager’s job with the Quakers.
November started with a 3-1 defeat at Merthyr but they won five other league games in the month, only losing to FC United of Manchester in the FA Trophy and ended the month fourth in the table.
Watson is up against Paul Michael (Merthyr Town), Neil Danns (Southport) and Ian Culverhouse (King’s Lynn Town).
