Johnny Dolan won his first show on Friday when a blue pied hen caught the eye of judge Ken Watson in the Union Jack Club.
The Aspatria fancier had 52 young hens to sort out in Workington Victoria’s fourth show of the winter series.
The winner was one of four bred by Wayne McLuckie and gifted to Johnny, who has put them all to stock and is looking forward to what they will produce next season.
Seven different lofts picked up tickets in the show and as such will be able to enter them in next Friday’s show which has two classes for all ticket winners and fancy coloureds.

The tickets went to: 1, Dolan and daughter; 2, Williams and Hadfield; 3, 6, N Semple; 4, Bromley and co; 5, M and L Cape; 7, McLuckie bros; 8, Evans and Abraham.
Next Friday’s double show will start judging at 7.30pm.
Wayne McLuckie, who bred the Victoria winner and gave her and three others away, also won with one he had retained at Flimby earlier in the week.

Johnny Dolan and Neil Semple were the judges, with 55 young hens entered and they gave tickets to: 1, 6, 8, McLuckie bros; 2, 3, Hodgson and Saldert; 4, D Hine; 5, Nelson and Crellin; 7, Bromley and co.
That’s the end of the regular shows at Flimby who will start their show races on Wednesday with an inland show for any age cock.
