
Police made an arrest for immigration offences as part of an operation to crack down on unsafe drivers.
Officers from the roads policing unit, crime team, along with representatives of the DVSA carried out the operation in Todhills, Carlisle, yesterday, Wednesday December 10.
The operation comes during Cumbria police’s Operation Limit which sees officers targeting dangerous driver behaviour – particularly drink and drug driving – across the county.
Officers also arrested a driver on suspicion of drug-driving and another on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
Other results from yesterday’s operation were:
- 8 immobilisations/prohibitions
- 2 cuts in HGV tyre
- 7 fixed penalties for overweight vehicles
- 1 penalty for mobile phone use – 6 points and £200
- 1 penalty for tyre less than 1.6mm – 3 points and £100
- 1 vehicle seizure
- 1 unsecured load
