The British Geological Survey has published data on the number of on shore seismic events in the UK over the last 12 months.
It said as of mid-December, 309 earthquakes had been recorded.
BGS is the national body responsible for recording earthquakes and its annual snapshot of UK earthquake data showed that 2025 was above average for earthquakes across the UK.
Thirty-four of the earthquakes occurred near Loch Lyon in Perth and Kinross between October and December. This includes the two largest onshore earthquakes, which occurred just hours apart on 20 October. A magnitude 3.7 quake was followed by one of magnitude 3.6.
A magnitude 3.2 earthquake, with its epicentre in Silverdale on December 3, was even more widely felt, with nearly 700 felt reports submitted to the BGS.
