The first big freeze of the winter wiped out practically all the local football for Cumbrian teams.
Carlisle United were able to play their National League game at Brunton Park against Wealdstone when a 2-0 win took them top of the table.
But below that it was a virtual wipeout with only Millom being able to play their West Lancashire League game at Poulton.
They probably wished they had also suffered a postponement as they went down 3-0 with goals from Toby Scammell (22), Dan Smith (72) and Callum Dickinson (86).
Only one other game was played in which struggling Coppull lost 2-0 at high-flying Lostock St Gerard’s.
The big West Cumbrian derby between Cleator Moor Celtic and Whitehaven was called off along with Milnthorpe Corinthians’ trip to champions Tempest.
In the Northern League Kendal Town’s efforts to ensure their derby clash with Carlisle City went ahead were thwarted when the Parkside Park pitch failed an inspection.
Penrith were due to travel to Thornaby but that was also a victim of the weather conditions.
In the North West Counties League First Division North Holker Old Boys should have played at Ashton Athletic but the game was off because of a frozen pitch.
All six games in the Cumberland County League were also postponed.
Meanwhile, Barrow and Whitehaven were unable to get to grips yesterday afternoon when the Raiders pitch failed an inspection after the night’s freezing conditions.
It would have been Whitehaven’s first pre-season game while Raiders had played last weekend, beating North Wales Crusaders 50-24.
Haven will now prepare to defend the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy when they make the short trip to the Fibrus Community Stadium next Sunday to tackle Workington Town.
Barrow do have another game scheduled before the Championship season starts on January 18 as they stage the Shane Toal testimonial game against a Scotland side next Saturday, January 10.
They open the Championship programme at home to Workington Town while Whitehaven start with a home game against Sheffield Eagles.
