With a number of key games postponed Carlisle United took full advantage to move top of the National League.
The Blues were more comfortable than even 2-0 might suggest in their home game against Wealdstone who have been on a poor run of form.
This was Carlisle’s third win in a row and but for the good work of Wealdstone keeper Dante Baptiste it would have been an even more convincing victory.
Luke Armstrong gave Carlisle the lead after 25 minutes with a good precise finish, beating Baptiste with a low shot into the bottom corner.
Top scorer Regan Linney was close to adding a second but it was Baptiste who took the plaudits in the Wealdstone dressing room at the break after making a series of good stops.
Although the visitors hadn’t seriously threatened, there was relief for Carlisle when Aaron Hayden scored the second after 60 minutes.
He was well positioned to turn home a low corner from Linney and it was enough to send the Blues top.
