Grand Prix star Jack Holder raced to his second Australian Championship when he completed a clean sweep of wins at the Gillman track in Adelaide on Friday.
The world No 5 won all four rounds of the championship on 72 points overall. He also topped the podium at the double-header in Albury-Wodonga last weekend and won in Mildura on Wednesday.
Victory sees Holder add to the Aussie crown he claimed in 2023. He also earns one of Australia’s places in the Speedway GP qualification rounds, where he is joined by runner-up Jaimon Lidsey and the winner of the FIM Oceania Championship, which takes place at Gillman on Sunday.
Holder lifted the Aussie Championship before the Gillman final had even been staged. But this didn’t break the Sheffield and Gorzow rider’s concentration as he finished the job by winning the final ahead of Tungate, who blazed through the heats with a 15-point maximum. Tungate claimed third place in the overall standings on 61.
Lidsey was third on the night as he secured second spot in the overall standings on 64 points – just fending off Tungate for the SGP qualifying round spot.
Ex-Comet Jacob Hook finished seventh overall after collecting six points on the night.
Current Workington rider Tate Zischke picked up eight points at Gillman and took ninth place overall.
But as he had done at the previous meeting Zischke made the semi-final where he was second, beaten by Lidsey.
