After a weather-hit start to the new year, the West Cumberland Sunday League should get back to a full programme tomorrow.
Only one game was played last Sunday, where Workington Falcons won 4-2 at Maryport Amateurs with goals from Declan Moore, Dave Watson, Dylan Bragg and Nathan Riley.
Lewis Moore and Shay Goodfellow scored for Maryport and that defeat allowed the Falcons to leapfrog, or more aptly fly ahead of them in the Division One table.
This Sunday’s schedule includes two Premier Division games with a Copeland derby between Lowca Pirates and Moresby Rangers looking a tasty affair.
Reigning champions Deer Orchard have a home game against Dearham Commercial while the team likely to take the Premier Division title this season, Northside, are in League Cup action in Cleator Moor against The Sun.
There are also five fixtures in Division One this week with leaders Senhouse Street travelling to Aspatria to take on Sun Inn Athletic.
The nearest challengers, Sun Inn make the trip to Mirehouse Juniors hoping their clubmates can do them a favour against the leaders.
As things stand Senhouse have an eight point lead but have played two more games than Sun Inn.
There’s a local derby in Maryport with the Amateurs at home to the Swan, and the visitors are still looking for their first win of the season.
Perhaps the best game is the clash between fourth (Workington Falcons) and the third (King’s Arms).
Both are on the same number of points but the Falcons have played a game more.
The fifth game sees Royal Oak, with just one win and lying second bottom, hosting the Zebras who are immediately above them in the table but with 10 more points.
