Barrow Raiders and Workington Town have named their squads ahead of tomorrow’s derby clash in the opening Championship game of the season.
Paul Crarey wants his side to be kings of Cumbria and victory over Town at the start of a new-look Championship will put a marker down.
Barrow have been able to announce that former captain Jarrad Stack has signed a new one-year deal with the club after originally joining in 2017.
He is included in the squad of 21 named by Crarey and the 36-year-old Australian forward will be up against his former club.
Barrow have also obtained the services of hooker Aiden Doolan on a season-long loan from Castleford Tigers.
He was a popular member of the Raiders squad last season when he made ten appearances but is set for a longer stay this time, although he is not included in the squad for Sunday.
The squad is: Anderson-Moore, Archer, Broadbent, Bullock, Bulman, Costello, Cresswell, Emslie, Johnston, King, Knott, Richards, Ritson, Robson, Stack, Teare, B Walker, T Walker, Watson, Wood, Woodend.
Town’s Jonty Gorley goes into the game on the back of a hard-earned victory over local rivals Whitehaven in last Sunday’s Ike Southward Memorial Trophy.
It was their only workout ahead of the new season, and although he feels his squad might just be a shade undercooked, have prepared well for the trip to south Cumbria.
Gorley was well-pleased with trialist Jack Ainley in that Whitehaven game and he retains his place in the 21-strong squad.
The squad is: J Ainley, R Ainley, Bradley, Lewthwaite, Carter, Castle, Corkill, Donaghy, O Doran, Farrer, Fulton, Galea, Lawther, Leigh, Lupton, Phillips, Rawhiti, Reid, Scholey, Walmsley, Wear.
