Workington Reds will have a new forward in the line-up for tomorrow’s home game with NPL Premier Division leaders Hebburn Town.
Daniel Ogwuru has linked up with Reds on loan from Morecambe FC until the end of the season.
He will go straight into the squad to face a powerful Hebburn side who have won 11 of their last 12 games.
The 21-year-old centre forward brings exciting pedigree to Borough Park having started at Bolton Wanderers.
He showed so much promise that Manchester City snapped him up at just 14 for around £100k – a real statement of his early potential
He was good friends with Rico Lewis during his time at the Etihad and says he learnt a lot while at City.
He progressed through City’s academy ranks, featuring in UEFA Youth League games, before moving to Norwich City and later joining Morecambe in 2025.
He has had loan spells with National North side Buxton and then Ashton United in the NPL North.
He hit the headlines when Morecambe made a delayed start to their National League programme after being suspended.
Coming on as a substitute in their first game back, on an emotional day for the Shrimps, he scored the winning goal in the eighth minute of time added on against Altrincham.
Reds boss Billy Barr said: “Daniel joined us at training last night but we didn’t do a lot with him.
“I have been chasing him for a while and I have seen quite a bit of him, including clips.
“I certainly recall that dramatic winner for Morecambe when they beat Altrincham in their first game back.”
