
Four people were rescued after their car slid off the road on an icy Lake District pass.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue team were called out to assist Cumbria Police on Friday January 30, at 4.55pm, after a car struck a rock and slid off the road on a bend on Hardknott Pass.
The car contained four people and a small party of rescuers were sent to assist them.
While the group were en route, they encountered a second car that had also slid on ice.
People from both vehicles were assisted, checked for injuries and then transported to safety.
The incident involved 12 Wasdale team members and lasted three hours and six minutes.
