A dispersal order was issued last night as a large group of youths gathered in Egremont.
Copeland Police said officers had received a number of complaints about the youngsters’ anti-social behaviour on Main Street.
Despite warnings from police, the young people continued to engage in anti-social behaviour.
A dispersal order was put in place – which gives police extra powers to move on people engaging in anti-social behaviour or crime – and a number of police were deployed to break up the group.
Copeland Police said: “We will conduct enquiries into yet another incident of youth anti-social behaviour in the Egremont area and we will be examining the underlying causes of this behaviour over the next week.”
They thanked people who approached officers and expressed their support and added if anyone had been directly affected by the behaviour last night – including criminal damage or physical or verbal abuse to call police on 101.
The dispersal order was in place until 5am today, Saturday February 7.
