An event to help tackle clothing waste in Cumbria will be at Rheged, near Penrith, this month.
Cumbria Clothing Collective is co-hosting, with Restore Cumbria, the ReWear Revolution at Rheged on Saturday February 28.
The event will bring together local and national repair experts, upcycling and recycling specialists, charities, community groups, schools and colleges from across Cumbria, families and the fashion-conscious to explore practical ways to reduce clothing waste and embrace more sustainable habits.
There are around 60,000 tonnes of textiles sent to landfill each year in the UK and the event aims to show how small, local actions can make a measurable difference – from repairing and rewearing to swapping and sharing.
ReWear Revolution will feature live repair demonstrations from local and UK-based menders and upcyclers, clothes swap sessions, workshops and demonstrations, films and panel discussions on fast fashion, the use and care of outdoor gear and reducing household textile waste and a sustainable fashion show.
