Carlisle City crashed out of the Brooks Mileson League Cup laast night when they were beaten on penalties by Division Two side Boldon CA.

Dan Kirkup’s men had to come from 2-0 down to square the first round tie with two goals in the last 15 minutes from substitute Henry Walker and defender Liam Mitchinson.

But straight to penalties it was the visitors who kept their nerve to win 4-2 after Tom Mahone and Josh Simpson had scored with the first two City spot-kicks.

Boldon had gone ahead in the game after 17 minutes through Sam Watts and doubled their advantage midway through the second-half through Aaron Williams.

Walker (75) and Mitchinson (80) got City back into the game only to miss out in the penalty shootout.
