Sun Inn Sharks – Luke Kershaw 8 Ball

In a rematch of last season’s final, Sun Inn Sharks took on Maryport Bowling Club with the Bowlers racing into a 2-0 lead.

Paul Kirkbride beat Jobby Dunn then Anthony Brough took out Ryan Bedford, before David Wilson pulled one back for the Sharks by beating Jason Miller.

Luke Kershaw tied it at 2-2 beating Mike McCallig, and in the doubles the Bowlers took the first to lead 3-2 through Brough and Miller.

A superb eight ball in the sixth frame from Luke Kershaw tied the match at 3-3 and the decisive frame was won by the Sharks’ Kershaw and David Wilson to seal the win.

Wilson took out the last three yellows and then a cracking black for the Aspatria side to keep their 100% start to the season.

Sun Inn Ballers also kept their 100% start to the season and welcomed back captain Ben Scott as they hosted Elbra A.

It wasn’t a winning return for Scott as he lost the first frame to Jason Thompson and when Tony Lambert made it 2-0, beating Gary Miller the home side feared the worst.

But Greg Todd and Johnny Gray made the match all square heading into the doubles, where Scott and Miller won the first before Todd and Gray sealed the win. Scott and Todd won the last frame to make it 5-2 to the Ballers.

Dearham took on Swan in a close match and Blake Miller opened the scoring for them but Swan then equalised via Dirk Mortimer, with Stephen Pattinson making it 2-1 to the Ellenborough side.

Danny Dryden tied it again at 2-2 but Calum Casson and Miller put Dearham back in front before Kyah Fraser and Jack Basnett sealed the victory, their second In a row. Pattinson and Matty Little got the consolation for the Swan as they finished 4-3 losers.

Maryport Rugby league Club B took on neighbours Maryport Social and went in through Ciaran Laverty, before Andrew Egan made it 1-1.

Ryan Ismay then put the Social Club in front but it was soon all square again through Robbie Pattinson. Keith Henderson and Adlee Henderson put the away side 3-2 up and then Stephen Ismay and Egan secured the win.

Elbra C team – Colin Varty, Darren Rowley, Stuart Thursby, Luke Nicholson, Simon Forrest David McCracken, Jonathan Webster

Jack Rogerson and Jack Burns won the last for the home side but it was a 4-3 win for Maryport Social.

Maryport Rugby League Club A took on Glasson Rangers and built on their impressive victory last week to run out 4-3 winners.

Cam Stuart and Dean Petre won singles for Glasson but Bowness and Brian Pattinson made it all square and they took the lead before Brian and Craig Thompson sealed the victory. Stuart & Petre won the last double but it was too late as it finished 4-3 to Maryport Rugby Club A.

Butchers A ended Grasslot Welfare’s 100% start to the season after Lee Volkearts put them ahead. Back came Grasslot with three in a row from Keith Anderson, Barry Shearman and Richard Shearman with another victory looking to be on the cards.

Colin Stables and George Close, though, had other ideas and pulled it back to 3-2 before Volkearts and & Scott Ivesen tied the match. Skipper Kevin Gartland and man of the match Volkearts clinched the victory for the Butchers A 4-3.

Butchers B continue to search for their first win as they went down 6-1 to Elbra C after Darren Rowley, Colin Varty, Simon Forrest and David McCracken took all four singles.

Ian Patterson and Carter provided a consolation double for the Butchers, while Jonathan Webster and Stuart Thursby took the first, while McCracken and Rowley secured the last, and a 6-1 win.

No score card was submitted for the game in which Elbra B beat Sun Inn Cannons 6-1.
