Aspatria Bowling Club, needing just one win to seal the John Peel Darts League title, wrapped it up in fine style with a 13-1 victory away at Carlisle’s Jovial Sailor.

Tim Workman, Ali Edgar and Mike Sowerby won all of their singles and doubles but lost the treble to Dale Weir, Michael Winthrop and Ali MacMillan for the Sailors.

David Graham, Eddie Carrick (following on last week’s 180 with another this time) and Stewart Reynolds won their singles before Ged Stockdale came in as a substitute for David Graham and alongside Mike Sowerby in his double and Carrick and Reynolds in the treble to wrap up a superb team performance by the new champions.

Second placed Silloth Bowling Club swept aside Sun Inn C with Gary Miller winning his single and double alongside Ben Allan for the Sun’s only points in another dominant performance from the Silloth side.

Roger Barwise, Cam Pape, Jack Robinson, Dan Redman and Trevor Frith were all in fine form, with 112 off from Redman the highlight of the night in an 11-3 victory.

After winning five in a row the Red Dial Arrows came up against a rampant Tam O’Shanter team and when John Duncan broke off with a 160 it showed they were in the mood.

Duncan, Norman Tolson, Geoff Ramshaw, Shane Williams, Colin Armstrong and John Wightman made it 6-0 after the singles and in the first double it was game over as Duncan and Tolson made it.

Dan Dixon and Adam Gill got the consolation two points for the Arrows, beating Ramshaw and Williams before Armstrong and Wightman took the last double. Both trebles went Tamas way to seal a 12-2 victory.

Sun Inn A returned to form with an emphatic win at home to neighbours Letters Inn B with Owen Pattinson the sole winner for the Letters, beating Tony Harrison.

Mark Beaty, Joiners Arms

That was as good as it got for the struggling side as Zane Alderson won the first single, including a 180, while Jayden Faulder got the second.

Then it was Matty McCartney’s turn to hit a 180 as he made it 3-0 before returning captain Ash Horn made it four.

Ken McCartney took the final single to make it 5-1 and Sun Inn took all the doubles and trebles with the only change in the line-up being Johnny Taylor coming into the last treble for Horn.

The battle of Wigton’s Bowling Clubs went the way of the away side Wigton Park as they ran out 12-2 winners. Alan Wilson and Mick Hill got a single each for Wigton Bowing Club.

Shaun Little, Stuart Potts, Alan Lapping and Christopher Pattinson all won for the Park and alongside Tony Stevens and Darcie Potts they took all the doubles and trebles.

There was another maximum in the match between Bridge End A and Blackamoor as Alan Carr hit 180.

Singles wins for David Carr, Arron Robson and James Percy for Blackamoor were cancelled by Jack Musgrave, J Rotherham and S Wetherhall with singles for Bridge End to make it 3-3.

David Carr and Robson made it 5-5 after Musgrave and Rotherham took the first double. Kyle Brough and Wetherhall then took the last to make it 7-5 and secure at least a point.

Dave Carr took maximum points on the night as alongside his father Alan Carr and Greg Bullock they made it 7-6 but it was all in vain as Bridge End got the last leg through Lawson, Brough and Wetherhall to win 8-6.

In Division Two it was a similar story to last week as top of the table Sun Inn B took on Rosley and like the Crown last week the pressure of being top seemed to hit them and after the singles they were trailing 5-1 with only Jobby Dunn scoring a point.

K Wilson 100 off, Mark Wharton, Del Dalton, J Henderson and Baz Little seemed to put Rosley in command.

However, after the doubles it was all change as first Adam Palmer and David Shield made it 5-3, and then Mark Harris and Dunn made it 5-5.

In the final double the home side made it 7-5 via captain Ryan Fisher and Kenneth Bowes to secure at least a remarkable point after the start they had. A point it was to be as Rosley took both trebles to draw the match 7-7.

Crown took back the top spot after they hosted Wellington with George Mitchinson taking the opening leg.

Phil Armstrong then equalised before Adam Walton then put Crown back in front 2-1, getting off with 102 and finishing with 106.

N Nanson again tied the game and Ryan Armstrong made it 3-2 before Wellington’s Dan Knox tied it at 3-3.

To that point it had been an even game but from then on the Crown showed why they are top by winning all three doubles and both trebles for an 11-3 victory.

Mitchinson and Jake Armstrong, Walton and Jason Davidson and Ryan Armstrong and Robert Armstrong combined to see them sit top with three games to go.

Southend Social Club took the lead against Hare & Hounds with Fiona Dorwood beating George Studholme. Then Roland Howe made it 1-1 beating Brian McGarvie and The Hounds went 2-1 up as Jake Bennett beat Lesley Pattinson.

Laura Tweeddale made it 2-2 before Laurie Halliman put Southend 3-2 in front. Gary Carr then beat Julie McGarvie to tie the game but it was a clean sweep from the Carlisle side in doubles and trebles to win 11-3.

Joe Graham, Joiners Arms

Bolton Lions hosted the Bridge End B and struck first when Malcolm Hudson beat Lawrence Armstrong. Decs Dyer made it 1-1 defeating Roy Day, while John Smallwood put Bolton back in front beating Jack Paton.

Robert Cockburn then made it 3-1 but again Bridge fought back, first through Liz Humphries and then Les Davidson, getting off with a 160, to level the match.

Armstrong and Dyer made it 5-3 before the Lions made it 5-5 via Smallwood and Cockburn. The final double went to Bridge End through Humphries and Davidson before  Armstrong, Paton and Dyer clinched the victory 8-6 as the Lions won the last treble as a consolation.

Joiners Arms strolled to a 13-1 victory at home to Oddfellows with Linden Wilson 102 off, Cam Jackson, Joe Graham, Mark Beaty, Dom Harrison and Jay Charters all on fine form winning the first 13 available points Martyn Bell, Richard Brough and Shane Ostle earned a consolation for the Oddfellows.

Red Dial Sparrows beat Goat B 8-6 s  Armstrong, Mark Thompson and Will Studholme won their singles, while for the Goat it was Oli Jarret, Will Jackson and Cody Elliot.

Xenon Charters and Gordon Robinson took the first double while Thompson and Jackson made it 7-3 with the second double before Frazer Sealby and Doddster made it 7-5.

It soon became 7-6 as Jack Hellon, Elliot and Luke Marshall Dowell took their treble. Sparrows were not to be denied though and clinched the win via Jackson, Watts and Studholme.

Final game in Division Two was Letters A 4-10 Wheatsheaf but no scorecard was provided.
