Workington Reds have issued a tribute to long-serving groundsman Jeff Curwen.
The club announced his death on social media.
He tended the Borough Park turf for around 15 years before announcing his retirement in 2019.
As a youngster, his son Nigel won a skills competition at Barcelona and went on to play for the Reds in the 1980s while grandson Tom was a prop forward with Workington Town.
Jeff’s own sporting prowess as a youngster had been in the world of racing pigeons where he was an accomplished fancier, having numerous successes flying as Curwen and Wright.
The funeral will take place on Friday, February 27 at 1.15pm at Distington Hall Crematorium.
Reds have sent their condolences to Jeff’s family and friends.
