Parked cars have held up footpath repairs in Kirkby Stephen.
Contractors were due to start work on the pavement at Faraday Road yesterday, Wednesday February 25.
Temporary traffic lights and cones were put on in preparation for the work, which is being carried out on behalf of Westmorland & Furness Council.
However, when workers arrived, cones had been moved and vehicles parked in the area.
It meant they could not gain access to begin the work.
Eden police issued a plea on social media for people not to park on Faraday Road.
It said: “The sooner the council can do the work to the footpath – it should only be two days – the sooner you will be able to park on the road again.
“So please park in accordance with any correspondence you have received from the council and stay away from areas designated by cones.”
