There’s plenty of Cumbrian interest in a historic game of rugby league being played in Las Vegas tomorrow.

Scotland’s squad taking on the USA at Cougar Stadium in Henderson, Nevada includes four players from the county.

They are Barrow Raiders’ Max Anderson-Moore, who is dual registered with Barrow Island community club; Brett Carter, until last season with Barrow Raiders; Connor Terrill is back with Millom after playing for the Raiders, while Joe Kirkup, previously played with Workington Town and is now at Penrith rugby union club.

The fixture marks a historic milestone for rugby league in the United States, with the Men’s, Women’s, and Youth (U19) national teams touring together for the first time.

The Las Vegas event will also be the first international tour under the USA Hawks’ new national programme leadership, led by co-heads of football Shane Morris and Kurt Stocks, following a comprehensive overhaul of USARL’s national team structures and development pathways.

The USA Hawks and Scotland Bravehearts will contest three international matches across U19 Men’s, Senior Women’s, and Senior Men’s levels in a single evening showcase.

Included in the women’s side is Nicole Stewart, former goal-kicking star with Workington Finches rugby union, who switched to league with Barrow Raiders Ladies and Rebecca White, of Workington Town.

Isaac Maclrean, who plays for Furness Raiders, will represent Scotland Under-19s.

Also part of the Under-19s squad are Jacob Walker, of Seaton Rangers and Lucas Anderson-Moore, of Barrow Island.
