Award-winning crime writer MW Craven has been named as libraries ambassador for north and West Cumbria as part of the National Year of Reading.
The literacy campaign aims to encourage people to discover or rediscover the joy of reading.
Born and based in Cumbria, MW Craven is best known for his internationally acclaimed Washington Poe series.
With multiple awards to his name, he is recognised as one of the UK’s most celebrated and best-selling crime authors.
In his Cumberland ambassador role, he will work closely with libraries across the county throughout the year, hosting events and supporting initiatives that encourage people to read more.
He said: “As a long-time library user, I’m thrilled to be supporting the National Year of Reading.
“Reading for pleasure, at any age, is so important to our understanding of the world, our community and each other.”
An event will be held on March 26 at Whitehaven Library, celebrating the release of the paperback edition of his latest Poe and Bradshaw novel, The Final Vow.
It will include a talk from MW Craven, a Q&A session and book signing. Light refreshments will be provided.
