Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen has opened his Community Fund for local organisations, charities and community groups.
Groups can apply for funding of up to £2,500 to support projects to help tackle and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
In 2025, the community fund and property fund provided £236,044 to 102 groups including Maryport Boxing Club, Stomping Ground Carlisle, Kendal Youth Darts Academy and Penrith Cricket Club.
Mr Allen said: “Investing in our communities is vital to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour and crime in our county.
“That’s why I’m so pleased to provide up to £2,500 to local organisations and groups for projects that will reduce crime through education and diversionary activities through my Community Fund.
“This may not seem like a huge amount of money. However, it can make a huge difference to smaller groups who want to make a positive difference in their area. I have seen that first hand.
“I’ve visited multiple groups that received community fund over the last year such as Kendal Youth Darts Academy – they used their funding for dartboards, lights and surrounds and scoreboards. Simple pieces of equipment but they have made a huge difference to the young people in Kendal and are incredibly successful.
“I want to help Cumbrian organisations continue to make a difference in their communities which is why I am reopening the Community Fund. If you have a project, please apply,”
