A stolen quad bike has been reunited with its owner as investigations continue into its theft.

Carlisle police said they had seized two quad bikes and officers were making enquiries to track down their owners.

One owner called the police to report it stolen and the quad bike was returned.

The investigation continues.

Police asked farmers to review security measures including:

  • CCTV and good lighting on your property – ideally with motion sensors that alert you remotely
  • Store quad bikes and property out of sight, preferably secured in a building
  • Lock down the quad with ground anchors and heavy duty chains and padlocks
  • Trackers can detect movement and geozones can be set and assist with recovery of stolen property.
  • Mark your property and advertise this fact. Look at SelectaDNA and Datatag ID Limited
  • Note down serial numbers of machinery and store in a folder on your phone along with photos
