Two Carlisle students are making a positive impact in the community while building vital skills for their future.
Marina Arnot, 21, and William Armstrong, 19, attend Beaumont College, based at Carlisle Youth Zone in Victoria Place.
They have been gaining hands-on experience through a work placement at the Restore charity shop in Carlisle town centre.
The placement forms part of their journey at Beaumont College, a specialist post-16 designated college supporting special school leavers and other young people as they prepare for adulthood.
Each week, Marina and William support the Restore team with tasks including sorting and checking donated games, organising books and arranging clothing donations.
The placement not only supports a valued local charity but also provides Marina and William with meaningful opportunities to develop confidence, independence and essential workplace skills.
Tom Armstrong, lead tutor at Beaumont College Carlisle, said: “At Beaumont College, our focus is on preparing young people for adulthood in a way that is personalised, practical and empowering and work placements like this are invaluable.
“Marina and William have shown real dedication and enthusiasm at Restore, and it’s fantastic to see them building confidence, developing employability skills and contributing positively to their local community.”
Marina said: “I love working in the shop and helping out, it’s good fun and I get to meet lots of people.”
William added: “I have learnt a lot being at the shop and really enjoy going every week.”
