JJ’s B had an impressive 10-3 win over Waverley.

Station Road A had the chance to go top of the JJ’s Workington Pool A league when they played their rearranged games against Cons Club B and Moss Bay A.

Against the Cons Club, it was Station Road who came out on the front foot, winning all of the initial singles frames to lead 6-0.

Cons fought back, claiming the three doubles frames, but Mark Robertson sealed the 10th frame for an unassailable lead and Station Road ran out 8-5 winners.

In the second game, despite Moss Bay A claiming the first frame, it was Steve Lowery who capped off a nine-frame winning streak for Station Road, who completed an 11-2 victory to lead the league by two points.

Second-placed Harrington Legion A kept their title defence alive against Station Road C. In what was initially a tight game, current doubles champions Alan McLeod and Gavin Simpson’s doubles and second singles frame wins helped take the initiative to run out 8-5 winners.

JJ’s B put in the performance of the week in a surprising 10-3 victory over the Waverley in what was expected to be a tight game. Dave Edwards and Wayne King helped reduce the deficit to 4-3 for the Waverly but JJ’s reeled off the last six frames, with Geoff Banton capping off the win which kept JJ’s B third in the table.

Cons Club B’s second defeat of the week has all but ended their title challenge.

Facing JJ’s A away it was John Howath who got the home side off to a winning start and which his team mates were able to build on as they raced to a 5-1 lead.

Cons fought back to take two doubles frames but Shaun Ayre ended any hopes of a comeback as JJ’s won 8-5.

Pack Horse A remain in seventh place after a 7-6 win over JJ’s C.

Grapes A remain in pole position in the B League as a last frame decider gave them the 7-6 victory over Red House A.

Cons Club A enjoyed a comfortable evening at home against the Bees Knees.

The Cons were never troubled as Dave Austin kicked off the evening with an impressive win that was capped off by Chris Black who claimed the match winning frame for a 9-4 victory.

Station Road B continued to struggle as Pack Horse B edged a tight affair 7-6. With the scores level at 3-3 after the singles it was Pack Horse who claimed all three doubles to lead 6-3.

Station Road refused to give up, claiming the tenth and eleventh singles frame but Pack Horse finally got the match winning frame thanks to Dean Winder, which helped move them up to seventh in the league.

Harrington Legion B remain second thanks to a 7-6 victory over Red House B.

JJ’s E made it five wins in a row to keep their promotion hopes alive in the C league. Ahead 5-4 on the night against the Railway it was JJ’s who dominated the final  four singles with Jordan Hawkins claiming the match winner in a 9-4 victory.

Two points ahead of JJ’s E are Moss Bay B who put an end to the Grapes B’s winning streak with an 8-5 victory.

Union Jack Club B remain fourth as they enjoyed a comfortable 9-4 victory over the Roundabout while JJ’s D made it three wins in a row to move up to seventh. In an 8-5 win at the Union Jack A the impressive upturn in form was helped on the night by Jack Bell who’s two singles wins were crucial.
