
Workington Town welcome back former skipper Jamie Doran to the 21-strong squad ahead of Sunday’s 1895 Cup tie at home to Newcastle Thunder.
Doran has been out for a while now with a serious ankle injury but his rehab, although lengthy, has gone well and he is ready to return.
Also back in the squad after injury are Australian Braden Leigh and former Kells amateur Dominic Wear.
Joining the squad for the first time ahead of a competitive game are talentyed teenager Tyce Walmsley and former Kells forward Jack Ainley, younger brother of prop Ross Ainley, whose place he takes.
Newcastle Thunder will be a different proposition from recent years when they have finished bottom of League One.
They have linked-up with Super League newcomers York Knights and as a result have a much more competitive side winning three of their first five Championship games.
Newcastle have only named 20 in their pre-match squad but it includes winger Andy Djeukessi who was such a hit while on loan with Town last season from Castleford.
Tyler Walton, who played for Town last season, is also in the squad along with five loanees Will Roberts, John Sagaga, Matty Foster, Jack Smith and Jordan Lipp.
