
In the JJ’s Workington Pool league, WashHouse Miners have been crowned C League champions in what has been a totally dominant display.
They confirmed the title thanks to an 11-2 victory over Union Jack A and still with two games to go the WashHouse are looking to complete an undefeated season with 16 wins already under their belt.
In other C league results JJ’s D earned a surprise 7-6 victory over second placed Moss Bay B.
The win was their fourth in a row and moves them up to sixth in the table.
The Grapes B moved up to fourth as they defeated the Railway Club 9-4 with Ray Cottier capping off the victory.
The A league has come down to a two-horse race between Harrington Legion A and Station Road A.
Harrington Legion faced third-placed JJ’s B it what was expected to be a tight game but the Legion dominated the first round of singles as Graeme Scott helped his team go 5-0 up.
JJ’s pulled back a couple of frames but the Legion had too much quality to let the lead slip as John Burns capped off the 8-5 victory.
Station Road A faced JJ’s A and quickly found themselves 2-0 behind before John Teasdale’s break clearance helped Station Road back into the match and the singles finished 3-3.
Station Road edged the doubles to lead 5-4 and it was Paul Graffin’s third frame win of the evening that secured the victory as they ran out 9-4 winners and returned to the top of the league.
Moss Bay A gave themselves a chance to avoid relegation as they defeated the Waverley 7-6.
Jeff Phillips won the final frame decider to put his team on eight points in the table alongside Station Road C and JJ’s C with two teams to be relegated.
Pack Horse A’s good form continued as they won their third match in a row.
They were 5-4 ahead in a tight game with Cons Club B but Lewis Tilley finished off a four-frame winning run to give the Pack a 9-4 victory and move them to fourth in the table.
In the B league, with Harrington Legion B’s match being postponed, Grapes A took advantage to extend their lead at the top to four points as they defeated the Bees Knees 9-4.
The Miners ended their losing streak with an impressive 8-5 victory over Red House B.
Red House A kept their slim chances of promotion alive thanks to an 8-5 victory over Station Road B.
Finally, the Cons Club have all but secured their top four place in defeating Seaton Royal Oak 10-3.
In doing so, it means that with Seaton’s frame difference they will be playing in the C League next year.
