Scotby Road will be closed for up to five nights so resurfacing can be carried out.
Cumberland Council said the work was due to start on Monday, March 23, subject to weather and site conditions.
The closure will be in place between Oakbank Farm and Scotby Village Hall, with a signed diversion route in place.
Work will take place between 6pm and 1am. The road will remain closed until 3am to allow for site clean-up and materials to cure properly.
Emergency service access will be maintained at all times, and pedestrian access will remain open throughout the works.
Between 6pm and 3am, vehicle movements within the closure will be restricted.
Cumberland Council said where possible, the site team will assist with initial access, but drivers should expect delays depending on where work is taking place.
Repeated vehicle movements will not be possible during these hours, it added.
