
The final games in the John Peel Darts League have been played and champions Aspatria Bowling Club ended with a win.
They took on Blackamoor and made a faultless start in the singles as Mark Sloan 152 Off and 180, Michael Bain, Ali Edgar, Scott Davies, Mike Sowerby and Tim Workman 120 off all won their singles.
The match was over as a contest when Sloan and Bain took the first double but David Carr and Luke Hetherington won the second double to put Blackamoor on the board.
In the first treble Alan Carr, Greg Bullock and Dave Carr earned the other point to make the final score 11-3 to the champions, for whom young Archie Edgar made an appearance in the doubles and trebles.
Silloth Bowling Club secured runners-up with a 10-4 win at Bridge End A after Roger Barwise got them off to a great start. He beat James Musgrave despite the home player hitting a maximum 180.
Cam Pape, Dan Redman and James Critchlow were the other singles winners for Silloth while Alan Seymour and A. Tiffen were winners for the hosts, which meant it was 4-2 after the singles.
Barwise and Pape took the first double and the result was secured when Jack Robinson and Dan Redman took the next.
Grey Goat A hosted Tam O’Shanter and it was the visitors who took the lead through John Duncan with a 130 checkout. He was followed by Pam Hind and Geoff Ramshaw with 148 off to put them 3-0 up.
Jonny Bowe pulled one back before Shane Williams made it 4-1 to the Tama. Goat then brought in substitute Harry Stagg and went on to win all three doubles to lead 8-4 and snatch the victory. Tama took both trebles and the game finished 8-6 to Grey Goat A.
Sun Inn C were at home to Wigton Bowling Club and hoping for their first point of the season but the Bowlers were in no mood to take it easy.
Scott Stirzaker got them off to the perfect start with a 111 checkout while Alan Wilson, Duggie James and George Moore then made it 4-0 before Shaun Allan got a point for the relegated Sun team.
That 4-1 scoreline was as good as it got as Chris James won the next to make it 5-1 and Bowling Club then won the rest of the games to finish ahead 13-1.
Red Dial Arrows were beaten 8-6 at home by Jovial Sailor in a game that went down to the trebles.
Jamie Glencross put the Arrows ahead but Adam Jack and Michael Winthrop took the next two points for the Sailor. Connor Hill then levelled for the Arrows but Ali Nicholson then put the Sailor back in front at 3-2.
Maverick Charters then levelled the match for the Arrows but Dale Weir and Jack took the first double. Then Matt Glencross and Hill again tied the match at 5-5.
Nicholson and Ali MacMillan won the final double but Arrows weren’t finished yet as Jamie Glencross, Richard Houghton and Matt Glencross made it 6-7.
So it was down to the final treble where Stu Kinghorn, Nicholson and Metcalfe took the point and Sailors went home Jovial with the win.
Letters Inn B were beaten at home by Wigton Park after sharing the singles – Shaun Little, Ant Lapping and Bailey Potts for the Park while for Letters Neil Hillier, Owen Pattinson and Bob Graham made it 3-3,
Park took all three doubles, though, to make it 9-3 leaving just a couple of consolation trebles for the relegated Aspatria side.
In Division Two there’s only one game remaining with Joiners Arms having to travel to take on title favourites Crown Inn in a game rearranged for this Sunday (March 22).

Sun Inn B currently lead the way with a one point lead at the top after beating Wellington 10-4 on their travels.
Adam Palmer, Graham Hewitt, Ryan Fisher and James Dunn, with a 101 checkout, put the league leaders in control with Phil Armstrong and Dan Knox making it 4-2 after the singles.
Carl Knox and Armstrong then made it 4-4, before Hewitt and Fisher put Sun Inn back in front. Then substitute Jobby Dunn, alongside Uncle James, hit the double four to win the match.
The Aspatria side won both trebles to finish the game and now must wait to see whether they are league champions or not.
Oddfellows Caldbeck and Red Dial Sparrows played out a 7-7 draw. Xenon Charters was the only one to win for the Sparrows and hit the final double too in the trebles to secure the draw.
Zak Ostal, Martin Bell, Alan Potts, Shane Ostal & R. Ostal won for the Oddfellows.
Elsewhere Wheatsheaf beat Bolton Lions 11-3, Rosley were 8-6 winners against Bridge End B, and Grey Goat B also beat Hare & Hounds 10-4.
The final scheduled game in Division Two was a home walkover as Letters Inn A couldn’t field a side so Southend Social Club are given a 14-0 win.
