Seascale could soon be home to a new mural.
Villager Stephen Collett has launched a campaign with the Seascale Sports Hall to have a mural created on the hall’s north facing wall.
Stephen, who is an artist, said there was currently very little permanent public art in the village and believed the mural would bring more colour to Seascale and inspire further creative practice while bringing the wider community together.
Voting sheets have been placed in shops and businesses across the village, letting residents have their say on whether they’d like to see a mural.
Once the survey results are in, Stephen plans to present them to the parish council.
If the project gets the green light, a second round of consultation will begin, asking villagers what kind of mural they’d like to see.
Once the community has decided, Stephen and the sports hall will apply for funding from the Mid Copeland GDF to bring the mural to life.
If approved, the mural is expected to remain in place for 10 years.
